A good cookery book has often been cited as the inspiration that drove many of the top chefs. Most of us will not aspire to greatness, but they still can help us increase our knowledge and skills. However a particularly good one will make us think outside the box and encourage thinking about making up our own recipes and ideas.

Cook Books – The Way to Your Partner’s Heart?

Nearly everyone loves food.  Eating together, either at home, or in a restaurant, is a classic way of a couple falling in love to meet up.

There’s an old adage – “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. Very true.  Very few men don’t enjoy being cooked a delicious meal. And it reawakens the passion of the first few month’s of meeting.

However, in these days of equal opportunities, it can be argued that the way to any partner’s heart (of either sex) is through their stomach. Men CAN undertake the multi-tasking that cooking requires! And many of the top chefs are men.

But a lot of us are very limited in the variety of dishes we can cook. This is where cook books come in. A good cookery cook can guide an inexperienced cook through the whole process of cooking.

In the UK good examples include Delia Smith’s cookbook, How to Cook, and Jamie Oliver’s book Jamie’s Ministry of Food.

Go and grab a copy of one or more of the good cookery books and reawaken slumbering passions!

What do you do with a bored teenager?  Teach them to cook.  At least that was what I did.  I was a single mother with three sons and the oldest, at seventeen, had way too much time on his hands.  I bought several creative cookbooks and challenged him to make dinner for us with the recipes.  To everyone’s surprise, including his, he loved cooking.  Soon he was doing all of our cooking and baking and realized he had found his career.  When he left school, after winning several cookery contests, he attended the local catering college and is now on a path to being a top chef.

When my husband lost his job and I was the only one working, we both began to cut corners.  Our new budget worked out well for us as long as we stuck to it faithfully, and that meant not overspending on food.  Since my husband was now our official meal planner and maker, he invested in several cookbooks containing recipes which could feed an entire family for next to nothing.  He’s become the master of hearty stews, the king of casseroles, and an overall genius at cheap meals.  As a bonus, he has developed a love of cooking and has even created some of his own delicious meals out of cookbook recipes.
