Great Grandma’s Cookbook

One of my earliest memories is watching my great grandmother cutting out recipes from her newspaper or magazines and glueing them onto blank notebook pages. She would write notes under them and never cooked or baked without these homemade cookery books. Eventually I inherited her collection and found that, as times and nutrional knowledge changed, so did the collection. From my great grandmother’s cookbooks filled with rich sauces, thick gravies, and fried foods, my notebooks evolved into an entire section on healthier, low-calorie meals. Of course, healthy or not, no one can beat her double-chocolate cake recipe, which I will never share with anyone. It is safe and sound in one of her recipe books.
